Match 1: Osmania University vs Thiruvalluvar University
The 2023-24 South Zone women’s inter university tournament began spectacularly with Osmania University setting a new record for the highest first wicket partnership in domestic Women’s T20 cricket. Anjali crafted a magical century, remaining unbeaten on 114, and received strong support from Akansha, who also finished not out on 79.
Together, the pair punished the Thiruvalluvar University bowlers, dispatching them to all parts of the field. In response to Osmania University’s imposing total of 219/0, Thiruvalluvar University crumbled under pressure, succumbing for just 88 runs. K Mahalakshmi top-scored with 35 runs, while G Bhavana delivered a devastating spell, taking 4 wickets for just 6 runs.

Bengaluru City University kicked off their tournament with a victory over Akkamahadevi University. Reethu Gowda (35 runs) and Ganga Gautham (27 runs) guided Bengaluru City University to a total of 136/5. In response, Akkamahadevi University was bowled out for 88 runs, and Varsha was the star performer of the match, finishing with match figures of 3/9.

After a win in the first round, TNPESU was knocked out of the tournament in the second round by the University of Kerala. The University of Kerala scored 136/8 in 20 overs, with Jhanvi Venkatesh top-scoring with 36 runs. In reply, TNPESU was bowled out for 69 runs in 19.3 overs. Keerthi weaved her magic with the ball, picking up the first hat-trick of the tournament—a wonderful spell from the young, talented cricketer.
