It has been a thrilling two weeks for the cricket fans in India as IND vs ENG 2024 test series has been highly competitve and with the series tied up at 1-1, we shift focus to the third test match at Rajkot starting from Feb 15th. BCCI announced the squad for the remaining three test matches on 10th Feb.
All the fans and the team management was expecting the return of Virat Kohli for the final three matches. But Virat Kohli has requested BCCI that he will be unavailable for the remainder of the IND vs ENG test series due to personal reasons. The board has accepted his request and didn’t include in the squad for upcoming test matches.
KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja who missed the second test match due to fitness are back in the reckoning for the 3rd test match. KL Rahul has attained match fitness and will slot in at the number four position. While the availability of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who is recovering at the NCA in Bengaluru remains uncertain.
The selectors eluded Shreyas Iyer for the remainder of the series despite recovering from a stiff back injury and being fit to take the field for the last three test matches. Iyer has got good starts in all the four innings but gifted his wicket at the wrong time by playing a reckless shots. The 29 year old batter has scored 94 runs in four innings.
The call-up of Bengal’s fast bowling sensation, Akash Deep has surprised everyone. The 27 year old fast bowler has picked up 103 wickets in 29 matches in his first class career. Despite his inclusion in the final 15 squad for the remaining three test matches.
