AUS vs PAK 3rd Test 2023: Home team Australia defeated Pakistan with absolute dominance in the first two test matches. Pakistan has one final frontier to erase the ghosts of their past down under. It will be all about the home town boy, David Warner. The southpaw will bid good bye to test cricket at the SCG. While on the other end a young talented left hander from Pakistan will make his debut. While one leaves the game another one enters.
One Last Hurray for David Warner
While one of their opponents is struggling to win their first test match on Australian soil in decades. It is time for the home team to celebrate the retirement of David Warner. Warner announced his retirement from One Day Internationals on the new year day. He will now end his test career at his home ground in front of his home crowd at the SCG in Sydney.
Warner will end his career as the second-highest run-scorer for Australia in International Cricket. It has been an absolute honour watching him bat and deliver over the past decade. He would like to add one more big knock before he hangs his boots. The test match at Sydney provides the opportunity for Warner to join the elite list of players to score a century in their retirement game.
“I’m definitely retiring from one-day cricket as well. That was something that I had said through the World Cup, get through that, and winning it in India, I think that’s a massive achievement,” Warner said in an emotional press conference at the SCG on Monday.
“So I’ll make that decision today, to retire from those forms, which does allow me to go and play some other leagues around the world and sort of get the one-day team moving forward a little bit,” he added.
Pakistan Aim to End on a High
Pakistan had the best chance at the MCG to level the series. But they threw the game away by displaying little to no common sense in the fourth inning. They have one last chance to make a comeback in the World Test Championship. A win here ensures Pakistan grab 12 valuable points, while the defending champions would like to continue their winning run.
It is time for the men in green to introduce new talent to the test arena. As per the reports two players have now announced the team for the third and final test match of the series. Pakistan made some unexpected changes in the team. Left-handed opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq and the leader of the pace attack Shaheen Afridi will not feature in the final test. 21-year-old Saim Ayub and Sajid Khan have been included in the playing XI.
The new pace attack showed glimpses of how good they can be when it matters the most. But slip catching, sloppy fielding and lack of contributions from their batsman haven’t helped their cause. They will rely on Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan in the absence of Imam Ul Haq. In the bowling department, all eyes will be on Hasan Ali, Aamir Jamal and Mir Hamza.
The AUS vs PAK 3rd Test match will begin on 3rd January at 5:00 am IST at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Do tune in for the farewell match of David Warner on Star Sports 1 and Disney+Hotstar.
