India vs Pakistan: Team India to Don Orange Jersey for the First Time?

Team India Captain Rohit Sharma in Orange Jersey

The hosts Team India, captained by Rohit Sharma, will face Afghanistan and Pakistan in the round-robin stage of the premier event after starting the World Cup campaign against five-time champions Australia. On Saturday, the highly anticipated encounter between India and Pakistan will take place in Ahmedabad’s illustrious Narendra Modi Stadium.

There were rumours about team India donning the orange/saffron jersey for the clash against Pakistan in match 12 of the ICC World Cup. India wore a different jersey for the 2019 ICC World Cup in England and Wales. In the run-up to India’s World Cup 2023 opener against Australia in Chennai, the Men in Blue were also spotted donning an orange training Jersey.

One intriguing aspect in the lead-up to this clash was the speculation about the jersey colour that Team India would wear for this particular match. Traditionally, India’s cricket team sports a blue jersey. However, there were rumors that India might consider wearing an orange or saffron jersey against Pakistan.

BCCI Clears Air on Team India’s Jersey vs Pakistan

Cricket fans and experts eagerly awaited confirmation from the Indian cricket board regarding the jersey colour, adding an extra layer of anticipation and excitement to an already high-stakes match against Pakistan.

The honorary treasurer of the BCCI, Ashish Shelar, made it clear that Rohit and Co. will only sport Team India’s Blue jersey at the ICC World Cup. “We categorically dismiss the media reports that Team India will be donning an alternative match kit against Pakistan. These reports are absolutely baseless and a work of someone’s imagination. The Men in Blue will sport India colours – Blue at ICC Cricket World Cup 2023,” the BCCI official told ANI.
