IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans lifted their maiden Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) title on Sunday night, scripting history with a crushing 118-run win over Dindigul Dragons in the finals of TNPL 2025 season. This season, Tiruppur had a near-perfect form with the star studded half-centuries from Tushar Raheja and Amit Sathvik along with some breath taking bowling performances from their bowling lineup right throughout the season.
Tushar Raheja Steps up for Tiruppur Tamizhans
At the packed venue at NPR College Ground in Dindigul the Tiruppur Tamizhans, while batting first, posted a huge 220/5 – which was also their highest total of the season. Raheja led the charge by securing a match winning 77 runs off 46 balls. He started the season with a bang scoring 79 and capped it off with another scintillating knock.
Raheja’s innings included six fours and four sixes which laid the foundation for the grand score and gave Tiruppur an edge from the very start. With this, Raheja finished the 2025 TNPL season as the top scorer with a total of 488 runs at a phenomenal strike rate of 186.
Raheja’s efforts were supplemented by the young sensation Amit Sathvik, who smashed 65 off just 34 deliveries. This marked his fourth fifty in five innings. Moreover, Sathvik’s aggressive form kept on shooting up the scorecard and pushed the pressure back on the opposite team. As a result, most of the Dindigul bowlers ended with economy rates in double figures. Varun Chakravarthy and R Ashwin, who are known to be Dindigul’s two most experienced bowlers, struggled to slow down the flow of runs.
Dindigul Crumbles Under Pressure
With a high target of 221, the Dragons’ innings never got going. They lost four crucial wickets during the powerplay itself and saw themselves further down by 8 right before the end of the 10th over. On the other hand, the persistent pressure from the Tamizhans along with their disciplined bowling had Dindigul collapse for 102 in just 14.4 overs. Notable breakthroughs were delivered by Raghupathy Silambarasan (2-12), Mohan Prasath (2-18) and T Natarajan (1-19). In addition to this, A Esakkimuthu’s figures of 2 for 27 were also impressive.
Playing his debut TNPL season, Esakkimuthu finished as the second highest wicket taker with 14 wickets at an economy of 7.46, making it an excellent performance by the 23-year-old. Clinching this exciting win, Sai Kishore’s Tiruppur Tamizhans not only silenced their critics but also carved out a place in TNPL’s history as first-time champions.
