Gear up for the second season of SA20, as six teams battle it out for the coveted trophy. Following a successful first season, which proved to be an experiment by Cricket South Africa, the second season of SA20 has garnered huge bids and sponsorships. This marks the revival of cricket in the most dominant cricketing nation on the African continent.
The league commissioner Graeme Smith announced the schedule of SA20 2024 in an event in Johannesburg in August 2023. New rules will be in play for the second season and it is going to be a cricket extravaganza like never before. The season one was a huge success where CSA made profits from viewership and broadcasting rights.
Ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the United States, the SA20 tournament provides the perfect opportunity for players to showcase their talent and for the selectors to identify the right players who can achieve success.
The defending champions, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, will face the fan-favorite Joburg Super Kings in the tournament opener on January 10th. The final will be played on February 10th, 2024. Each team will host other teams at their home ground in the inaugural week of the tournament.
SA20 Schedule 2024
New Format & Timings

In the season one the top four teams played the semi final one and two followed by the finals. But this season the playoff structure will be similar to the ones in the IPL, where the top two teams will play the qualifier 1. The 3rd and 4th ranked teams will play the eliminator. The winner of qualifier 1 advances to the final. The winner of Eliminator and loser of Qualifier 1 will battle out for the second finalist spot in Qualifier 2.
The change in the match timings gives a chance for the cricketing fans in India to enjoy the tournament. The mid-week matches will now start at 9:00 pm IST and 5:30 PM in South Africa. Where most of the students and people coming from jobs can have fun with their family in the evening times.
Venues
SA20 2024 season will be played across six venues and each team will play five matches at home and five matches away. The six venues for the second season of SA20 are
