Lasith Embuldeniya and Oshada Fernando made comebacks in the squad ahead of the South Africa series.
Embuldeniya Makes a Comeback
The cricket world is all set to witness another thrilling Test series. South Africa is ready to host Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series on their home soil. Before facing the South African side in the upcoming Test series, Sri Lanka is in great form in the longest format. They whitewashed New Zealand in their last Test assignment.
The Sri Lankan Cricket Board announced a 17-member squad for the two-match Test series beginning on November 27. Left-arm spinner Lasith Embuldeniya made a comeback in the squad after two long years. Embuldeniya earned selection partly due to his strong showing in South Africa back in 2019. Embuldeniya delivered solid performances in that series. He claimed six wickets across three innings, maintaining an impressive average of 23.83.
Overall, Embuldeniya has featured in 17 Test matches, taking 71 wickets. His ability to perform in challenging conditions has made him a valuable asset.
SA vs SL Test Series 2024 – Oshada Fernando’s Return
Along with Embuldeniya, Oshada Fernando is all set to feature in the upcoming Test series against South Africa. After one year, he is all set to make a mighty comeback. In recent times, he delivered outstanding performances while playing against South Africa A. Apart from that, Oshada has impressive records of playing on South African soil. In 2019, he delivered outstanding performances.
In their 17-member squad against South Africa, the Sri Lankan team management made a nice blend. After missing out on the recently ended Test series against New Zealand, Kasun Rajitha returned to the squad. That is a huge boost for the team. This Test series is going to be crucial for both sides as they have chances to grab a good spot at the WTC points table.
