Ishan Kishan’s sudden departure from the upcoming test series against South Africa has left the fans baffled. The left-hander didn’t make any official announcement on his departure. According to a source, mental fatigue is the main reason behind his withdrawal from the test series. Due to constant travelling and uncertainty in the playing XI, Ishan Kishan has been experiencing mental fatigue. Few other sources suggest he is feeling enervated due to continuous cricket tours over the years.
Ishan Kishan Part of every squad but uncertain in Playing XI
Ishan has been part of the team since the beginning of the year. The 25-year-old keeper-batter performs well when given the chance. However, he is not being part of the playing XI on a consistent basis. Kishan featured consistently during the West Indies tour where he played Two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is. He played the first two World Cup games in the absence of Shubman Gill who was recovering from dengue. Despite expectational performances in the Asia Cup, KL Rahul was preferred over him in during the World Cup. Kishan scored 110 runs in three smashing two match winning knocks against Australia. Time and Time again, the left hander has proved his worth in the team, Kishan was benched for the entire T20 series.
Ishan Kishan had discussions with Team Management about his mental fatigue and said he wants a break. The Team Management further talked with selectors and granted the much needed break.
Mental Fatigue being the common reason also throws light on the hectic and stressful life of cricketers. Constant Travelling and busy schedules might affect the mental well-being of the players. Hence it shows the importance of managing the stress and mental well-being of professional players.
The official announcement by BCCI stated that Ishan Kishan has requested the BCCI to be released from the upcoming Test series against South Africa citing personal reasons. The wicket-keeper has subsequently been withdrawn from the Test squad. KS Bharat has been named replacement for Ishan Kishan.
