Delhi opened their account by drafting England’s upcoming talented batsman, Harry Brook. Previously with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Brook will now play for Delhi Capitals. He was picked for 4 crores in the 2023 IPL Auction. The Capitals’ second pick, another exciting prospect from South Africa, Tristan Stubbs, adds further firepower to their lineup.
Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Kushagra and Uttar Pradesh’s spin-bowling all-rounder Kumar Kartikeya were the most expensive picks for the Capitals in the 2023 IPL Auction, both fetching a hefty 7.2 crores each. Sumit Kumar from Haryana was also picked up for 1 crore.
Australian fast bowler, Jhye Richardson, was the most expensive foreign player drafted by Delhi Capitals, fetching a whopping 5 crores. Surprisingly, Shai Hope, the West Indian batsman, didn’t attract any bids in the initial round. However, he was later picked up by Delhi in the accelerated round for a more modest 75 lakhs.
Indian domestic players Rasikh Dar Salam, Ricky Bhui, and Swastik Chikara were the three who attracted bids of 20 lakhs each. Overall, it was a successful auction for the Delhi Capitals, with these acquisitions adding firepower to their batting unit and providing backups for their Indian core players.
