The Indian and Australian fans are all set to experience another new edition of the Australia vs India Test Series 2024-25. Players from both sides are all set to showcase on their big stage. The thrilling time in red ball cricket is just a few days away. Australia is all set to host the exciting edition of the iconic Test series. As a new edition is approaching, some of the exciting milestones are on the way. Virat Kohli, facing a tough time in his Test career, is standing close to another thrilling milestone. He is just 54 runs away from leaving Cheteshwar Pujara behind in the top runs scorers list in the Border Gavaskar trophy.

Before the series starts, India’s iconic spin duo, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are gracing the squad. Both the spinners are assets and achieved countless milestones in their careers. Ravichandran Ashwin is just two wickets away from becoming the highest wicket-taker in the Border-Gavaskar trophy. That is going to be an iconic milestone.

Over the years, Ravindra Jadeja has been India’s go-to spinner in tough situations. In recent times, he has been seen in impressive form. But before the Border-Gavaskar trophy starts, Ravindra Jadeja is all set to touch another new milestone. He is just 10 wickets away from becoming the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the Border-Gavaskar trophy.

India’s Test Record in Australia

Ahead of the Australia vs India Test Series 2024-25, lets have a closer look at team India’s record at the five venues where India will play the five match test series.

Team India’s Record Perth Stadium

The cricket world is eagerly waiting for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. From November 22, another new edition will unfold. The first match of the series is set to take place at Optus Stadium, Perth. India played its first Test match in Perth in 1977. India has played four test matches at the W.A.C.A now known as the Optus Stadium in Perth and secured one win.

In 2018, Virat Kohli’s exceptional innings of 123 runs in Perth was an iconic knock. In that match, he batted with an average of 47.85. In that match, Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami showcased magic with the mall. Ishant Sharma secured a four-wicket haul and Shami secured 6 wickets in the second innings. Though India lost the game the match became iconic.

Team India’s Record at the Adelaide Oval

The second match of the Border-Gavaskar trophy is scheduled to take place at the Adelaide Oval. Since 2000, India has played 13 test matches at Adelaide Oval and they have managed to win only two test matches. In 2003, Rahul Dravid’s historic innings of 233 runs paved India’s way to secure the most iconic victory on Australian soil. Apart from that, in 2008 when both teams met at the same venue again, the cricket world witnessed another thrilling encounter.

In that match, Sachin Tendulkar played an iconic knock of 153 runs in the first innings, despite failures, the Indian side fought incredibly. In the second innings, Virender Sehwag added crucial 151 runs. The match ended in a tie.

In 2012, Adelaide witnessed another thrilling match between India and Australia. Despite India’s big defeat, Virat Kohli’s fighting century was one of the biggest highlights of the match. In 2014, Team India faced Australia under Virat Kohli’s leadership. The Test series witnessed the greatness of the King. He smashed two magnificent centuries in Adelaide.

The 2018-19 Border-Gavaskar trophy was special for the Indian side. In that season, Adelaide played a crucial role. In that Test match, India’s pace trio featuring Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah shattered the base of Australia’s batting lineup. India defeated them by 31 runs and became the first team to defeat Australia in a Test series on their home soil.

In 2020, India’s match against Australia at this venue was not memorable. Even after giving a tough fight in the first innings, Team India. The second innings turned out to be a nightmare. They registered their lowest-ever Test score after being all out in just 36 runs.

Team India’s Record in Brisbane

The third Test match of the series is set to take place in Brisbane. Before the 2020-21 Border Gavaskar trophy, the Gabba Stadium was Australia’s unachievable fort. Among all the Test matches played at this iconic, India’s fourth Test match against Australia is one of the most thrilling ones. Rishabh Pant’s incredible unbeaten innings of 89 runs sealed the victory. With that, India became the first Asian team to win a Test match at the Gabba. India has played 7 test matches at the Gabba in Brisbane and won only won once.

Team India’s Record in Melbourne Cricket Ground

In the history of Australian cricket, Melbourne Cricket Ground is one of the iconic stadiums. Over the years, the stadium witnessed several iconic Test matches including some outstanding matches of the Border-Gavaskar trophy. India has played 14 test matches at Melbourne Cricket Ground and they managed to win 4 test matches, lost 8 & two matches ended in draw.

In the 2018-19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India’s 137-run win over Australia at this venue grabbed all the attention. India appeared at the MCG with one win and 1 defeat. They did their best to name the series. In the match, Jasprit Bumrah dominated the entire Australian lineup. He ended up securing 9 wickets in this match. India secured a 137-run win and named the series by a 2-1 margin.

Team India’s Record at the Sydney Cricket Ground

The last Test of the series has been scheduled to take place at the Iconic Sydney Cricket Ground. India has played 13 test matches at the Sydney Cricket Ground and managed to win only once, they lost five matches and seven test matches ended in draw.

On the flip side, India won only one game. In 1978, Team India registered their first win over Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. In 2004, Team India put on their highest score of 705/7. Sachin Tendulkar played an exceptional unbeaten knock of 241 runs.

In 2019 at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Cheteshwar Pujara scored a brilliant 193, while Rishabh Pant added 159, helping India declare at 622 for 7 in the first innings. Australia responded with 300 and had to follow on, reaching 6 for 0. However, rain interfered, washing out the Test and denying India a chance for a decisive win.

Rohit Sharma: the Indian captain is standing at the third position of the table. On Australian soil, he played 7 matches and scored 408 runs. His highest score is 63*. As the new edition of the series is set to unfold, Rohit Sharma is all set to bounce back from his recent form.
