Yashasvi Jaiswal creates history in team India’s first appearance in the 2022 Asian games. India and Nepal locked horns in quarterfinal 1 at Hangzhou on Tuesday. Team India led by young and dynamic opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to bat first.

Yashasvi Jaiswal opening the batting for India took the attack to the opponent bowlers from the start. In the second over Jaiswal smashed the first maximum of the match clearing the long on boundary and smashes the next ball towards backward square leg.

Ruturaj Gaikwad played the anchor role, while Yashasvi Jaiswal attacked the Nepali bowlers smashing the maiden fifty for team India in the 2022 Asian games. The opening duo added 102 runs in 9.5 for the opening wicket before Gaikwad was dismissed by Dipendra Singh. Tilak Verma making his first ever appearance in the Asian games failed to score runs as he was cleaned up by Sompal Kami. Jitesh Sharma to couldn’t make much of an impact and after a good start India were in trouble at 120/3 in 13 overs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal from the other end kept attacking the bowlers and scoring runs and in the 16th over, Jaiswal smashes a four and the taps one down to square leg to bring up his maiden hundred in T20I cricket representing India. He becomes the youngest Indian (21 years 279 days) and the first Indian batsman to ever score a hundred in the Asian Games. With his magical knock team India finished at 202/4 in 20 overs.

Chasing down a huge total, Nepal got off to a good start. Khushal Bhurtel (28 runs), Kushal Malla (29 runs), Dipendra Singh Airee (32 runs) and Sundeep Bora (29 runs) got starts but none of the batters got going and ended up losing the match by 23 runs. Ravi Bishnoi (3/24), Avesh Khan (3/32) and Arshdeep Singh (2/43) were the top performers with the ball for team India.
