After Bangladesh’s historic 2-0 series win over Pakistan, the team is gearing up for their next challenge: a two-Test series in India. Litton Das, one of the standout performers from the Rawalpindi victory, emphasized that the squad is focusing on adapting to India’s SG balls, a departure from their usual Kookaburra.
Bangladesh typically uses Kookaburra balls in their home matches and did so during their Tests against Pakistan. However, India uses SG balls in Test cricket, which, according to Litton, presents a different challenge.
“The ball in India will be different,” Litton Das explained. “It’s tougher to play against the SG ball. The Kookaburra becomes easier as it ages, but the opposite happens with the SG ball. The old SG ball is harder to score off.” Meanwhile, the Bangladesh team’s white-ball players are practicing with Kookaburra balls in preparation for the T20Is that will follow the Test series in India.
Litton Das Urges Bangladesh to Focus on India Challenge
While Litton Das played a crucial role in Bangladesh’s victory over Pakistan, he urged everyone to look forward instead of dwelling on their recent success. His century in the second Test helped rescue Bangladesh from a precarious 26 for 6, but Litton is keen to focus on the upcoming challenges in India.
“We played good cricket against Pakistan, but that’s in the past now, It’s crucial for us to look ahead. I request the media to not bring up the Pakistan series as it’s behind us.”
Litton’s role as a lower-middle-order batter often places him in a position where he must take risks, especially when batting with the tail. However, his marathon innings in Rawalpindi showed his ability to adapt when the team needed stability.
Bangladesh will depart for India on September 15 to play two Tests in Chennai (September 19-23) and Kanpur (September 27-October 1), both part of the World Test Championship. The series will be followed by three T20Is in Gwalior (October 6), Delhi (October 9), and Hyderabad (October 12).
