One time Big Bash League (BBL) champions Melbourne Renegades finished third in the league stages and were knocked out in the qualifiers by Brisbane Heat in the 2022-23 season. The Renegades will play their first match of BBL 2023-2024 against Sydney Sixers on 8th December at Sydney Cricket Ground. They play their first home game against the Brisbane Heat on 21st December. The other three home games that features the Renegades at the Docklands Stadium are against the Adelaide Strikers on 29th December, Hobart Hurricanes on 4th January and the final game against the Melbourne Stars on 13th January. The Melbourne Renegades also announced the squad for the 2023-24 season.

Nic Maddinson to lead in BBL 2023-24
Nick Maddinson will lead the Melbourne Renegades squad for the third straight season. Will Sutherland has been appointed as the vice captain of the team. The foreign players part of the Renegades squad are South African wicket keeper batsman Quinton de Kock. Afghanistan’s mystery spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman. One of the finest T20 batsman in England’s domestic cricket Joe Clarke.
Aaron Finch will be back in action after his retirement from International cricket. Veteran fast bowler Peter Siddle signs for the Renegades after his stint with the Adelaide Strikers. One of the key signings this off season was that of off-spinner Nathan Lyon.
